Animal laboratory Course

A hands-on workshop will be offered as part of the S.E.T. conference.

Two sessions will be offered on February 18th , 2009 (8:00-12:00 AM) and (2:00-6:00 PM).

The participants will have the opportunity to perform several endovascular procedures including arterial angioplasty, embolization and vena cava filter placement in pig animal model.

Lab 1Angioplasty

The objective is to provide a hands-on experience with the following devices:

  1. Self-expandable stents
  2. Balloon expandable stents
  3. Covered stents
  4. Cerebral protection devices (filters, reversal flow)
  5. Several catheters and guide wires

Embolization

The objective is to provide a hands-on experience with the following embolic agents:

  1. Gelfoam
  2. PVA particles
  3. Drug-eluting beads
  4. Coils
  5. Amplatzer vascular plug
  6. Glue
  7. Lab 1
  8. Onyx

Vena cava filter

The objective is to provide a hands-on experience with the following devices:

  1. Permanent IVC filters
  2. Retrievable IVC filter
  3. Filter retrieval systems
